I neither write nor read poetry. I do journal writing and have written different kinds of reports in my prior professional work. I wrote a FABULOUS poem during the session, So did others. We were delighted and noisy and enthusiastic like children. I may send it to one of the publishers referenced by Debbie. Debbie helped us to evoke some deep and profound material. There was alchemy in the room.
I have been a Spoken Word poet for 30+ years. I have no idea how many workshops or classes I have attended concerning writing poetry. But this was an outstanding workshop. Debbie has the unique ability to break down the mechanics of a poem. Not in an intellectual way, but in the emotive sense of what a poem needs to do in order to be a poem. I could not laud her talent more than this, Debbie Bacharach is a poet’s poet. I am deeply impressed.
Debby Bacharach was immediately engaging and interactive. Her attitude inspired the courage to try a new experience that could be threatening. She was so encouraging, affirming and inspiring.
I attended this hoping to “wake up my brain.” I was hoping to expand my understanding of how to observe the world around me and my experience was very rewarding. There was a lovely sense of spirituality and community.
I enjoyed so much hearing other people’s thoughts and felt it was warm and inviting. It was something light in the dark.
Debby’s energy and presence infused our synagogue community with creativity and thoughtfulness for a magical weekend.
